Artist Bio

(b.1967 - 2016, FRANCE)

Val, a master manipulator of bronze, constantly creates new departures in her sculptural practice. She often plays with the surface of the sculptures, creating contrasts between fluid lines and rough textures. In each piece the artist strives to strike a balance between form, line and the human figure. The result is a delicate harmony, matched by a strong composition. The artist often experiments with scale: reducing human forms to simple small figures, whilst setting them against an oversized framework. Each piece has the power to transcend language, place, time and culture, addressing wider themes such as human existence and the raw forms of nature.
